Stephanie Skoro is a Partner at Sieben Edmunds Miller and a dedicated Minnesota criminal defense attorney known for her thoughtful advocacy, courtroom skill, and deep commitment to her clients. She represents individuals facing serious criminal charges and parents navigating complex child protection matters throughout Minnesota.

Stephanie approaches every case with the understanding that her clients are often experiencing one of the most difficult moments of their lives. She works closely with each client to ensure they feel informed, supported, and confident in their defense, providing clear guidance while pursuing the strongest possible outcome.

Criminal Defense Attorney Handling Serious Felony Cases

Stephanie regularly defends clients charged with serious criminal offenses in Minnesota, including complex felony cases that require strategic thinking and strong courtroom advocacy. She has successfully represented clients in jury trials involving charges such as:

  • Intentional Homicide
  • First-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct
  • Domestic Assault
  • Second-Degree Assault
  • Threats of Violence

Her growing practice increasingly focuses on high-stakes criminal matters, including complex criminal sexual conduct cases and other serious allegations where a client’s future and reputation are on the line.

Stephanie’s trial experience allows her to approach each case with careful attention to detail and creative legal strategy. She is known for analyzing evidence closely, identifying arguments others might overlook, and developing thoughtful defense strategies that challenge the prosecution’s narrative.

Before joining Sieben Edmunds Miller, Stephanie served as a criminal prosecutor in Minnesota. That experience gives her valuable insight into how prosecutors evaluate cases, build legal arguments, and approach trial strategy—knowledge she now uses to anticipate the state’s approach and advocate effectively for her clients.

Minnesota CHIPS Defense and Child Protection Representation

In addition to her criminal defense work, Stephanie maintains a substantial practice representing parents and guardians in child protection matters across Minnesota.

She handles a wide range of cases involving:

  • CHIPS petitions (Children in Need of Protection or Services)
  • Termination of Parental Rights (TPR) proceedings
  • Emergency Protective Care (EPC) hearings
  • Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) matters
  • Foster placement hearings
  • Voluntary foster care agreements
  • Appeals in child protection cases

Stephanie is particularly passionate about representing families during these challenging proceedings. She works closely with parents to help them understand the child protection process, connect with resources, and advocate for outcomes that prioritize family stability whenever possible.

Her work in this area often involves supporting clients who feel overwhelmed by the legal system and helping them navigate the steps necessary to move forward and rebuild.

A Defense Attorney Focused on Advocacy and Client Trust

Stephanie believes effective legal representation requires more than legal knowledge—it requires empathy, communication, and trust. She takes pride in building strong relationships with her clients, ensuring they understand the legal process and feel supported throughout their case.

Whether defending someone accused of a serious crime or helping a parent work toward reunification with their child, Stephanie approaches every matter with determination and a commitment to helping her clients move forward.

Education and Background

Stephanie earned her J.D. from Mitchell Hamline School of Law. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University, where she first developed an interest in advocacy through undergraduate mock trial competitions. She also studied fine arts with an emphasis in ceramics, an experience that helped shape her creativity and perspective.

Community Involvement and Personal Interests

Stephanie volunteers with Project Access, a program supporting adults with disabilities. This community engagement reflects her deep commitment to equity and cultural understanding—values that inform her legal practice daily.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and her miniature dachshund. You can often find her cheering for the Minnesota Twins, relaxing at a ballgame, or enjoying a quiet moment with loved ones.
