Keanu Krech began his journey into law with a unique and inspiring background. Initially, he pursued a degree in pastoral ministry and undertook life-changing adventures, such as cycling across the United States to raise funds for food and education programs in Thailand and canoeing down the Mississippi River to raise money to combat sex trafficking. Inspired by Bob Goff’s book “Love Does,” Keanu decided to explore a career in law.
Keanu excelled in law school, where his passion for criminal defense truly took root. As a certified student attorney in the criminal and juvenile defense clinic, he represented clients ranging from juveniles to adults charged with petty misdemeanors, felonies, and everything in-between. This hands-on experience, coupled with the mentorship he received, solidified his commitment to becoming a criminal defense attorney. Keanu is dedicated to being a client-centered and reasonable attorney, always prioritizing the best interests of his clients. He believes in understanding their goals and working tirelessly to achieve favorable outcomes.
Joining Sieben Edmunds Miller was a natural fit for Keanu. Recommended by a trusted professor, Keanu found the firm’s personable and humble environment appealing. The open-door mentorship policy and supportive culture at Sieben Edmunds Miller align with his values, making it an ideal place for him to grow as a legal professional. He appreciates the firm’s close-knit, laid-back atmosphere, where attorneys are approachable and patient, fostering a conducive learning environment for a new law clerk.
Keanu’s diverse background includes public speaking, entrepreneurship, and various legal internships. He has worked as a youth pastor, started and sold a window and gutter cleaning company, and gained experience in family law at a nonprofit in Stillwater. His time at a criminal defense firm in Minneapolis provided invaluable insights into sentencing and the importance of being a reasonable attorney. These experiences equip him with a unique perspective and strong people skills, enabling him to approach each case with empathy and dedication.
Keanu is motivated by a deep-seated belief in restorative justice, aiming to treat clients with dignity and respect. He views his role as an advocate not just in legal terms but also in helping clients through difficult times without judgment or shame. His values shape his approach to the justice system, emphasizing humility, compassion, and understanding.
Outside of work, Keanu enjoys spending time with friends, fishing, running, reading, exploring the outdoors, and treasure hunting. Whether hanging out with friends or pursuing his hobbies, Keanu’s diverse interests reflect his dynamic personality and zest for life.
Keanu’s goal is to make a positive impact on the lives of clients and colleagues alike, ensuring that everyone feels supported and understood.
