Abriel J. Hanson is a dedicated Legal Assistant at Sieben Edmunds Miller, where she brings a fresh perspective and a deep commitment to criminal defense. Her journey into the legal field began in high school, where she discovered her passion for law through the mock trial program, a passion that continued during her time at the University of Minnesota. Abriel’s background in sociology and communications, combined with her hands-on experience in mock trials, laid the foundation for her legal career.
Upon graduating in 2023, Abriel initially worked in family law, focusing on cases involving divorces and protective orders. However, her genuine passion was for criminal law, which she discovered while assisting an IRS investigator during a college course on criminal behavior and social control. This experience solidified her desire to transition into criminal defense, leading her to Sieben Edmunds Miller.
Abriel is particularly valued for her ability to handle complex legal matters related to restraining orders and orders for protection, skills she honed during her time working with the domestic abuse organization, Tubman. Her experience in family law has equipped her with a deep understanding of the intricacies involved in these cases, making her an asset to the firm.
Abriel chose Sieben Edmunds Miller for its smaller size, which allows for direct mentorship and close collaboration with the attorneys. She appreciates the firm’s commitment to maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring that clients are well-informed and supported throughout their legal journey. Abriel takes pride in her empathetic approach, striving to make clients feel heard, respected, and safe, even when facing serious charges.
Beyond her professional responsibilities, Abriel is a passionate advocate for client-centered legal services. She excels at explaining legal processes in a clear and concise manner, avoiding legal jargon to help clients fully understand the steps involved in their cases. Her goal is to ensure that every client feels confident and informed as they navigate the complexities of the legal system.
Outside of work, Abriel is an avid football fan, especially of the Minnesota Vikings, and she enjoys the camaraderie that sports provide. She is also deeply connected to her family, with six siblings who inspire her to lead by example. In her free time, Abriel indulges in her love for art, playing guitar, and painting, hobbies which offer a creative outlet that balances her structured work life.
